Steelers NFL Draft Forecast: Centers

Friday, April 20, 2001

By Ed Bouchette, Post-Gazette Sports Writer

Dominic Raiola
6-2, 310
Nebraska
1 The outstanding player in a thin lot. Quick and athletic, he can pull on block assignments. Not overpowering. Native of Hawaii. A bit undersized, but so was Dermontti Dawson.

Robert Garza
6-2, 305
Texas A&M-Kingsville
2 Division II player who had a great week of Senior Bowl practices against top Division I players. Dominant at his level of play. Extremely strong. Quick and athletic.

Ben Hamilton
6-5, 305
Minnesota
3 Son of former Minnesota Viking Wes Hamilton. Strength in question. Good quickness and speed and can pull on block assignments better than he can outmuscle anyone. Smart, intense and willing to do what it takes to get better.

Bernard Robertson
6-3, 307
Tulane
4 A tackle who can also play guard but is projected as a center. His lack of experience there at the position will hurt him in the daft. Athletic and not overpowering. Has had shoulder problems. Good, solid player in college.
