Anthony Bult, a graduate of Norwich (Vt.) University, got a job as a teacher at Northwestern Military and Naval Academy near Lake Geneva, Wis.
He also was the owner of a Pennsylvania teaching certificate in English and a collection of pornography and sexual devices.
When police searched his East Troy, Wis., home after Bult was accused of molesting male students, they found leather restraints, duct tape and photographs of young boys. They also found equipment used to administer ether.
Two boys testified that, in separate incidents, Bult persuaded them to come to his home by telling them they could get high on ether, then molested them. One boy reported that Bult strapped him to a cot, gave him ether, and then molested him with a vibrator. The other boy testified that Bult tried to introduce him to sadomasochism.
In a plea bargain to avoid a trial, Bult was found guilty of second-degree sexual assault in 1993. Prosecutors had recommended a 10-year sentence, but the judge gave him 16 years because more offenses were reported by students even after the plea agreement was reached.
Bult was invited to attend his license revocation hearing in 1995 in Harrisburg. As an inmate at Waupun (Wis.) Correctional Institution, he didn't make the meeting.
His teaching license was revoked by the Pennsylvania Department of Education that year. State officials said they had no record of Bult teaching in Pennsylvania.
