A state trooper waits assistance after being injured in a collision with another trooper yesterday on I-79 south of Erie. The two state police motorcyclists were leading Vice President Dick Cheney's motorcade when they swerved to avoid a deer and collided. Trooper Ronald Morgan, assigned to the Erie barracks, and Trooper Robert Copechal Jr., assigned to the Washington barracks, were taken to Hamot Medical Center. Neither was hurt seriously and they were expected to be treated and released, said John Sorge, a dispatcher with the Girard barracks that patrols that part of the Interstate.
