Farm Fresh: Peach smoothie a juicy, healthful blend of fruit flavors

Quench your thirst with a Peach Smoothie. This recipe takes advantage of the local peaches that are in season. It also calls for pineapple juice, but orange juice works just fine.

Here are a few tips on how to select peaches:

??Look for fragrant peaches that give slightly to palm pressure.

??Avoid peaches that are bruised or green in color.

??To ripen underripe peaches, place them in a paper bag. Pierce the bag in several places and set aside at room temperature for a couple of days. Adding an apple (they emit ethylene gas) hastens the ripening process

Peach Smoothie

6 ounces pineapple juice
1 banana, peeled, chopped and frozen
1 1/2 cups peaches, sliced and frozen
2 tablespoons apricot or peach spreadable fruit

Place all ingredients in blender. Blend on high speed until smooth. Makes 1 serving.
