Road trip contest
In 1903, Dr. Horatio Nelson Jackson bet he could drive from San Francisco to New York in less than three months in a 20-horsepower Winton touring car. His trip is the subject of "Horatio's Drive: America's First Road Trip," a Ken Burns documentary airing on PBS in October.
PBS is holding a "Summer Road Trip Video Contest" through Aug. 22. It's looking for video essays of three minutes or less, plus a synopsis, from amateur filmmakers about their most memorable summer adventures. The winner, whose film will air on PBS, will join Burns for a day in New York.
For rules and an entry form, go to www.pbs.org/horatiosdrive/videocontest. Forms must be mailed to PBS Road Trip Contest, Box 4313, Manhasset, NY 11030-4313 by Aug. 22.

NBC looks to 'Eye' again
A half-hour version of Bravo's hit "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" will air again on sister network NBC Aug. 14 at 9:30 p.m.
According to NBC, the first time the Bravo show aired on NBC it retained 86 percent of its lead-in audience from "Will & Grace."
The Fab Five -- as the "Queer Eye" stars are known -- will also appear on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" Aug. 14 and 15 to give Leno and the "Tonight Show" set a makeover.
