CBS News stops at Butler sweet shop Saturday, July 12, 2003 By Barbara Vancheri, Post-Gazette Staff Writer
"CBS News Sunday Morning" will share with the nation one of Western Pennsylvania's sweetest secrets: Baldinger's, home of penny candy, on Route 19 in Jackson, Butler County, just south of Zelienople. The program is scheduled to air a story narrated by anchor Charles Osgood tomorrow between 10 and 10:30 a.m.
As reports in the Post-Gazette have noted, Baldinger's is the real thing, with candy that costs a penny a piece, wooden plank floors and hand-lettered signs asking customers to close the doors behind them. The 70-year-old business is near the intersection of Route 19 and Route 528.
