Baby on board

KDKA weathercaster Rebecca Hower gave birth to a 7-pound boy, Jackson David, at 6:30 p.m. Sunday. On Saturday night, it seemed evident that Hower was getting close to delivery when she remained seated at the anchor desk to deliver her forecast, rather than standing in front of the weather map, as usual.

Hower received some unexpected attention earlier this year when Playboy.com included her in a poll of the nation's "sexiest weather forecasters." She finished second in a field of nine weather women and will be on maternity leave until September.

As announced, KDKA will use Locke Roberts, a meteorologist who worked for the ABC affiliate in West Palm Beach, Fla., and the CBS affiliate in Grand Junction, Colo., to fill in during Hower's absence. He was brought on board in March as a temporary, six-month hire.
