Initiative on WQED
Mon Valley Initiative, a coalition of 12 community development corporations in towns along the Monongahela River from Homestead to Charleroi, will be featured on "The Visionaries" (11 p.m. Friday, WQED).
The organization focuses on business and work force development and new and renovated housing to create change in towns devastated by the collapse of the steel industry.
"Visionaries," with Sam Waterston ("Law & Order") as host, profiles nonprofit organizations. In September 2000, the show profiled The Academy, an alternative school for delinquent boys and girls in Carrick.

Santorum parodied
NBC's "Saturday Night Live" poked fun at U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum and his comments about gays in last weekend's broadcast. During a spoof of MSNBC's "Hardball" with Chris Matthews, Chris Parnell played Santorum.
Darrell Hammond, as Matthews, asked Santorum if he thought his controversial remarks would hurt President Bush in 2004. Santorum tried to explain what he'd meant.
"I have no problem with gay people," the faux Santorum said. "I like Liberace, I like George Michael, I even like that gay Teletubby. I just don't like it when Liberace, George Michael and the gay Teletubby have sex with each other."
