TV Note: WPXI changes Wednesday, August 07, 2002 By Rob Owen, Post-Gazette TV Editor
Channel 11 reporter Reg Chapman will leave the station Friday for a job as a reporter at KSTP, the ABC affiliate in Minneapolis, market No. 13 to Pittsburgh's market No. 21. Chapman's contract was not renewed this past spring, but the station kept him on for several months anyway.
In addition, WPXI has suspended its search for a fourth meteorologist. That position actually grew out of the departure of Dr. Mike Rosen, but news director Pat Maday said that instead of another weathercaster, part-time reporter Karen Welles has gone full time.
"Our needs have changed during the course of the year and to have somebody of Karen Welles' caliber go from part time to full time, that's just too good to pass up," Maday said.
