TV Note: KDKA to build new set to vary newcasts' look

Saturday, July 13, 2002

By Rob Owen, Post-Gazette TV Editor

KDKA is going to broadcast its 4 p.m. newscast, which begins July 22 with Patrice King Brown and Stacy Smith as anchors, from the same set used by Channel 2 at 6 and 11 p.m.

The 5 p.m. newscast, anchored by Jennifer Antkowiak and Ken Rice, will be broadcast from a new set built in the same studio with the same bridge theme in the background.

"We want to have something to break up the three shows because we're keeping the format the same," news director Al Blinke said. "By putting the 5 on a different set, it kind of makes the transition from one show to the next different."
