TV Notes: Local fraud case to air on 'Dateline' Thursday, January 10, 2002 By Rob Owen, Post-Gazette TV Editor
It was back in May when "Dateline NBC" announced plans to air a report on the case of W. Michael Altman, who is accused of bilking a West Mifflin congregation out of hundreds of thousands of dollars.
The story never ran and has been sitting on the shelf since then. Now it's set to air Friday at 9 p.m. District Attorney Stephen Zappala Jr. and Post-Gazette staff writer Steve Levin were among the locals interviewed. Although NBC says the story is a go, it always could be bumped by a major international or national story.

NBC is considering a prime-time, clip-based "Cosby Show" reunion special to air in May -- 10 years after the series went off the air, Variety reports. That's the same month the network will air an "L.A. Law" reunion movie. ... MTV and Showtime (home of "Queer as Folk") are in discussions about launching a gay channel, TV Guide magazine reports. The channel could get off the ground within the next year.
