From Times Square in New York City, MTV will air a live New Year's bash today from 10 p.m. until 12:30 a.m.
The network promises its program will again be packed with musicians, celebrities and VJs ringing in 2002 from the best seat in the city, MTV's studio.
MTV will air some of the year's best music with a top-50 countdown and year-end specials earlier in the day.
A new wrinkle in the New Year's bash comes at 2 p.m. tomorrow when MTV, in partnership with the USO and Armed Forces Entertainment, will air a 90-minute special concert for U.S. service personnel.
"For the Troops: An MTV/USO Special" features top artists including Jennifer Lopez, Kid Rock and Ja Rule. The show, which was taped at an undisclosed overseas military base, will be hosted by Carson Daly.
Tomorrow on TLC at 9 p.m. celebrate the "World Birthday," as TLC welcomes the new year with the births of 12 babies around the world. Last July 5, journalists traveled to nine countries spanning 17 time zones to film this show, which sets out to capture the drama of childbirth and explain how life begins in different parts of the world.
