TV Note: NBC sneak peek

Saturday, September 01, 2001

By Rob Owen, Post-Gazette TV Editor

Can't wait for the new fall season to start? Want to see clips of some of the new shows (as if the incessant promos haven't given away too much already)?

WPXI will air "The NBC Fall Preview Show," hosted by Rob Lowe ("The West Wing"), today at 2 p.m.

MDA Telethon

Channel 11's annual broadcast of the Muscular Dystrophy Association telethon begins at 11:35 p.m. tomorrow and concludes at 6:30 p.m. Monday.

Bill Cardille will be the telethon's primary host, along with David Johnson and Peggy Finnegan. Local portions of the telethon will originate live from Monroeville Mall.

Into the 'Woods'

Production on the pilot for a proposed children's series called "The Magic Woods" began in the Pittsburgh area last week.

Executive producer Matthew Craig said 90 percent of principal photography was completed under the direction of Gregory Lehane, a professor at Carnegie Mellon University who worked on "Sesame Street" and "Between the Lions."

The show does not yet have a broadcast or cable outlet to air on, but Craig is confident it will find a home once broadcast executives see the pilot.

"We need to have something to show everybody," he said. "This is really one step at a time."
