The critics have spoken. Well, the TV critics anyway.
The Television Critics Association announced nominees for its 17th annual awards Thursday.
HBO led with eight nominations, with CBS second and The WB third. Fox, NBC and PBS tied with five nominations each. ABC had four.
Past winners "The West Wing" and "The Sopranos" returned with multiple nominations. Newcomers to the TCA roster include CBS's "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" and "Survivor" and The WB's "Gilmore Girls."
The 22-year-old TCA -- comprising 220 print journalists -- will hold a ceremony to announce the award winners July 21 in Pasadena, Calif. Christopher Titus, star of Fox's "Titus," will open the ceremony.

Comedy series: "Ed" (NBC), "Everybody Loves Raymond" (CBS), "The Job" (ABC), "Malcolm in the Middle" (Fox) and "Sex and the City" (HBO).
Drama series: "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" (WB), "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" (CBS), "Gilmore Girls" (WB), "The Sopranos" (HBO) and "The West Wing" (NBC).

Individual achievement/drama: Edie Falco ("The Sopranos"), James Gandolfini ("The Sopranos"), Sarah Michelle Gellar ("Buffy the Vampire Slayer"), Chi McBride ("Boston Public") and Martin Sheen ("The West Wing").
Movie/Miniseries: "Anne Frank" (ABC), "Horatio Hornblower" (A&E), "Life with Judy Garland: Me and My Shadows" (ABC), "61*" (HBO) and "Wit" (HBO).
Children's program: "Between the Lions" (PBS), "Blue's Clues" (Nick), "Dora the Explorer" (Nickelodeon), "Rugrats" (Nickelodeon) and "Sesame Street" (PBS).
News/information: "America Undercover" (HBO), "Frontline" (PBS), "Jazz" (PBS), "On Our Own Terms: Moyers on Dying" (PBS) and "60 Minutes" (CBS).
Career achievement: Milton Berle, Sid Caesar, David Letterman, Mary Tyler Moore and Barbara Walters.
