CANDIDATES DEBATE: PCNC will cablecast a debate in the District 4 congressional race between Republican Melissa Hart and Democrat Terry Van Horne at 7 tonight.

The debate, held at Acmetonia Primary School in Cheswick, will be sponsored by the Allegheny Valley Chamber of Commerce and the League of Women Voters.

EVERYBODY LOVES "ED": Well, maybe not everybody, but enough people tuned in to watch Sunday night's premiere that the show exceeded expectations.

NBC's "Ed" drew almost 16 million viewers in its premiere (a general rule of thumb is that a series on the Big Three networks must draw more than 10 million viewers to remain on the air).

"Ed" was the top series Sunday night among adults 18 to 49, 18 to 34 and 25 to 54. It was the 13th most-watched program in prime time the week of Oct. 2.

"Ed" isn't out of the ratings woods yet. Its stiffest competition won't arrive until the Nov. 5 premieres of Fox's "The Simpsons" and "Malcolm in the Middle." 5.
