TV Notes: 'Chicago Hope' admits Garner

Wednesday, January 26, 2000

By Post-Gazette TV editor Rob Owen

James Garner rejoins the weekly TV grind in the final four episodes of "Chicago Hope" this season. He'll play the hospital's new multimillionaire owner and may return next season, if the show gets renewed.

"Chicago Hope" has garnered - pun intended - decent ratings since moving to 9 p.m. Thursdays this fall, but a seventh season would be an expensive proposition for the network. CBS may be more interested in keeping "City of Angels" alive.

Also, Alan Rosenberg, who plays the hospital lawyer on "Chicago Hope," has been upped to series regular status.

"HORATIO" RETURNS: A&E's "Horatio Hornblower" will return with two new movies that begin filming this summer with the original cast. The new films will air in 2001.

NEW AT WPGH: Pat Bridges, Channel 53's fill-in weathercaster, has joined the station as weekend forecaster, replacing Karen Eden. She'll also fill in for meteorologist Matt Morano when he's away.
