RALEIGH, N.C. -- Raleigh handed the Riverhounds their fifth loss in a row last night, 2-1, in overtime in an A-League soccer game at the WRAL Soccer Center. The Riverhounds fell to 4-5-1 and still have at 18 points.
"It was a heartbreaking loss," said Riverhounds Coach John Kowalski. "We had our chances to win, [it was a good] effort by our players.
"We have to create our own luck, but at the moment the ball is not bouncing our way."
The first goal came in the 85th minute by the Riverhounds' Nick Terlecky off a corner kick by Jair Vasquez. It was the third goal of the year for Terlecky and second assist by Vasquez.
The Capital Express (4-4-3, 21 points) tied it in the 90th minute when Carson White volleyed a shot over the head of goalkeeper Doug Petras to force overtime.
Ihor Dotsenko scored the winning goal off an assist from White in the 105th minute.
"The morale of the team is good," said Kowalski. "We have a fighting spirit and we are on the right track."
