Hometown: North Hollywood, Calif.

Education: Bachelor's degree in business administration-finance, TCU, 1987; master's degree in science-economics, University of California-Santa Barbara, 1992.

Playing career: Guard for Texas Christian University, 1984-87; led team in assists for two seasons and is fifth on TCU's career assists list; All-Southwest Conference in 1987; drafted by the Washington Bullets (now Wizards) of the NBA but did not play; played with the La Crosse Catbirds of the Continental Basketball Association and professionally in New Zealand.

Coaching career: Head coach, TeAute College (New Zealand), 1989; assistant coach, Los Angeles Valley Junior College, 1989-91; assistant coach, UC-Santa Barbara, 1991-92; assistant coach, University of Hawaii, 1992-94; assistant coach, Northern Arizona University, 1994-98; assistant coach, University of Hawaii, 1998-99; associate head coach, University of Pittsburgh, 1999-2003.

Miscellaneous: Worked as an assistant to Ben Howland for eight seasons, four at Pitt and four at Northern Arizona; is known for his prowess at recruiting; married to Jacqueline Corteway, the couple has a son, Jack Conner, 10 months; worked as a child actor, starring in Rice Krispies television commercials from age 5 until 12, when he quit acting to play basketball.
