![]() Football: Duquesne up to No. 21 in both polls
Tuesday, November 19, 2002 By Phil Axelrod, Post-Gazette Sports Writer
Duquesne, 11-0 with the longest winning streak in NCAA Division I-AA, climbed to No. 21 in the ESPN/USA Today and The Sports Network Top 25 football polls that include scholarship, partial scholarship and non-scholarship schools.
Duquesne was No. 25 in ESPN/USA Today and No. 24 in The Sports Network poll last week.
The highest a Mid-Major team has been ranked in the polls was 1997, when Dayton reached No. 18 in The Sports Network poll and No. 20 in ESPN/USA Today.
Duquesne is eligible to receive one of the eight at-large bids to the Division I-AA national playoffs that will be offered Sunday. A non-scholarship team never has been invited to the playoffs.
