Former Steelers assistant and Cowboys head coach Chan Gailey seems to have something cooking at Georgia Tech. Even without top RB Tony Hollings (season-ending knee injury), the Yellow Jackets beat North Carolina, 21-13, as backup Ajenavi Eziemefe rushed for 136 yards and one TD to go to 4-1.
Bill Bishop, 56, color analyst for Northern Colorado football games and sports director at KFKA-AM, died after losing consciousness in the press box at Nottingham Field before yesterday's game.

FOR THE RECORD
Cincinnati's hot-handed QB Gino Guidugli posted the sixth 300-yard passing game of his career (312) in a 35-22 win vs. Temple. It ties the school record set by Greg Cook (1966-68). One difference: Guidugli has done it in 15 games.

Furman rang up 640 yards in a 55-28 rout of VMI. ... West Virginia's 536 yards rushing vs. East Carolina set the Big East record held by Virginia Tech (500 vs. Pitt) in 1993. ... FOURTH-AND-SHORT
Air Force (4-0) is on something of crazy streak. The Falcons have now won three games in a row either in OT or the final minute of regulation after beating Utah, 30-26, on Chance Harridge's 20-yard TD pass with 17 seconds to play.
Correction/Clarification: A Sept. 29 college football report incorrectly stated that Jeremy Conley was Duquesne University's all-time leader in receptions, with 245. Instead, his receptions against Dayton on Sept. 28 set a school record for 245 yards receiving in a single game.
