Auto Racing By the numbers: Youth movement

Sunday, May 05, 2002

Compiled by Chris Dolack

Rookie Jimmie Johnson won the NAPA 500 last weekend and has seven top-10 finishes in the first 10 races this season, but at 26 he still isn't the youngest driver to win in NASCAR's top division this season. That distinction belongs to Kurt Busch, 23. So with two of the youngest drivers in NASCAR already posting victories this season, how must these drivers feel? They have never won a race in at least 50 starts and have an average age of 40.
