The Penguins have placed forward Ryan Craig and defenseman Andrew Hutchinson on waivers.
Both will be available to the rest of the NHL until noon Wednesday.
If they go unclaimed, they presumably will be assigned to the Penguins'
farm team in Wilkes-Barre, although players who clear can stay on the major-league roster.
Both players were signed as free agents during the offseason and have had strong training camps, although Craig's bid for a job with the Penguins was set back by a groin injury. He has skated on his own for the past two days, but has not practiced with the team since he was hurt during an exhibition game Sept. 25.
NHL teams have until 3 p.m. Wednesday to get down to the regular-season roster limit of 23.
