Position: Defenseman

Size: 5 feet 10, 190 pounds

Born: March 17, 1979; Edmonton Alberta.

Acquired: Penguins' eighth choice, 208th overall, in 1997 NHL Entry Draft.

2000-01 club: Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, AHL.

AHL statistics: In 39 games, six goals, 18 assists, plus-5 rating, 62 penalty minutes.

Scouting report: Fastest skater on Baby Penguins' roster also is aggressive hitter and strong in corners. ... Has helped make up for loss of defenseman John Slaney in trade last month by adding to team's offense. Has four goals in past five games and is seeing more power-play duty. ... Has played 43 games in NHL, including 30 last season, and has gotten good reviews from his coaches and teammates. ... Starred at both ends of ice for four years with Portland of WHL. ... Patterns game after Penguins' Darius Kasparaitis.
