Carnegie Museum of Art's department of film and video, which is being shut down for budgetary reasons, offers its swan song this weekend -- and admission will be free.

"Orfeu," a 1999 Brazilian movie based on the Orpheus myth, had been scheduled as the opening attraction in a series featuring films from that country. Efforts are being made to shift the rest of the series to another venue -- possibly the University of Pittsburgh.

"Orfeu" will be shown at the CMA Theater, located in the museum on Forbes Avenue in Oakland, at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and at 3 p.m. Sunday. Other planned events that would have involved the film and video department have been canceled.
