Nov. 9, 1990 -- Quarterback Scott Milanovich completed 12 of 15 passes for 189 yards, leading Butler (8-2-1) to a 25-14 upset win over Upper St. Clair (9-1-1) in the first round of the WPIAL AAAA football playoffs. Milanovich threw two touchdown passes, ran for another TD and booted field goals of 31 and 35 yards.

15 YEARS AGO
Nov. 8, 1985 -- Swissvale (9-2) topped McGuffey, 18-14, in a first-round WPIAL Class AA playoff game thanks to the heroics of Brian Chizmar. The Swissvale running back/linebacker rushed for 168 yards on 27 carries and recorded 20 tackles (12 solo). With McGuffey on top, 18-14, and 8:06 to play, Chizmar threw a 57-yard touchdown pass on a halfback-option play to lift the Golden Flashes to victory.

20 YEARS AGO
Nov. 7, 1980 -- Larry Miles' 10-yard touchdown reception was the winner as Bethel Park defeated North Hills, 33-27, in a WPIAL Class AAAA first-round playoff game that went four overtimes. The teams were tied at the end of regulation, 14-14.

25 YEARS AGO
Nov. 7, 1975 -- Steve Donelli returned the second-half kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown and Dave Vanchina ran 52 yards for a TD, leading Upper St. Clair (10-0) to a 16-6 win over Plum (8-2) in the semifinal round of the WPIAL AAA playoffs. The victory extended USC's unbeaten streak to 25 games.
