Homemade Ice Cream

  • 6 eggs
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 quarts half-and-half
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla
  • Ice, crushed (about 2 bags)
  • Kosher salt (about 1/3 box)

Mix all ingredients except for ice and kosher salt in an electric mixer. Pour into 6-quart ice cream maker. Freeze according to manufacturer's instructions.

Note: City people might like to use pasteurized eggs and milk products.

Makes 6 quarts.
