 Long Grain Rice
Not faster, but better, Barbara Harris says. The rice won't scorch or burn, and you'll like the nonsticky consistency. During the standing time at end, the microwave can be used for another dish.
1 cup long-grain rice
1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon butter 2 cups water
In a three-quart casserole, combine rice, salt butter and water. Microwave on high, covered, 12 to 14 minutes, stirring halfway through cooking. Rest, covered, 10 minutes. Serves 4.
