Marinated Broccoli

My husband, Ace, claims that it has been scientifically proven that some taste buds do not react well to particular foods -- he puts broccoli in that category. He may hate broccoli, but he ate these raw, marinated broccoli spears with great relish. We got the recipe from Audrey Edsall of Reserve, who, with husband Bill directed the play at our church. The Marinated Broccoli made its appearance at the cast party.

3 bunches broccoli,
cut into bite-size pieces
1 cup cider vinegar
1 1/2 cups salad oil
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon garlic salt
1 tablespoon dill weed
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon Accent
(we used 1 teaspoon, or you can leave it out entirely)

Mix all ingredients together and marinate at least one hour or up to one day.

Note: You can also marinate baby carrots and cauliflower.
