Pizza Casserole

This recipe is from the Waynesburg middle school Family and Consumer Sciences Department. Kids love it and it is great to make for potluck dinners. "Even my husband prepares this one!" says Joyce Winters.

1-pound box rotini pasta
1/2 pound ground beef
1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
1/4 teaspoon sugar
1 small can tomato sauce
1 small can tomato paste
1 jar pizza sauce
Dash of oregano, basil, and garlic powder
Sliced pepperoni
8-ounce package mozzarella cheese (we used shredded)
Parmesan chees

Cook rotini according to package directions and drain.

Brown ground beef with onion. Mix ground beef and rotini together and add sugar, tomato sauce, tomato paste, pizza sauce and seasoning. Pour half of this mixture into a 2-quart casserole. Add a layer of pepperoni and cheese. Pour the rest of the rotini mixture on top and add another layer of pepperoni and cheese. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
