Cinnamon Butterscotch Sauce

3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 cup heavy cream
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup butter
1 stick cinnamon

Place all of the ingredients in a medium saucepan and cook over medium heat for 30 minutes, whisking occasionally. Remove and discard the cinnamon stick. Serve immediately or refrigerate for up to one week.
