Russian Tea Cakes

2 cups flour
5 tablespoons confectioners' sugar
1 cup (2 sticks) butter (room temperature)
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1 teaspoon almond or vanilla extract

Sift flour and sugar together. Work in butter. Add nuts and flavoring. Form in small balls and place on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 350 for 8 to 10 minutes. Remove from cookie sheets and place 4 or 5 cookies in a brown paper bag with additional confectioners' sugar. Shake gently. Remove to cooling racks. Sprinkle with more sugar if desired. Makes approximately 4 dozen.
