This is the same recipe that's still printed on the Nestle semisweet morsels package (slightly reworded to remind you to preheat the oven). Thank you, dear Mrs. Wakefield!
4 cups sifted all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup (2 sticks) butter
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
2 eggs
2 cups Nestle semisweet chocolate morsels
1 cup chopped nuts
Combine in a bowl the flour, baking soda and salt. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. In a different bowl, combine the butter, sugar, brown sugar and vanilla extract. Beat until creamy.
Add 2 eggs to the mixture. Gradually add the flour mixture and blend in well. Stir in chocolate morsels and nuts. Drop by rounded teaspoons onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes. Makes about 100 2-inch cookies.
