This is a great way to serve brie for a party or romantic interlude, said Nick Ambliotis of Euro-USA Imports. He advises to use brie within a week of purchase. Brie should be purchased from reputable cheese mongers. Avoid brie with runny rind , red spots or bulging interior.
Wedge or small round of brie
1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
2 teaspoon butter
1/4 cup slivered almonds
Top brie with sugar, butter and almonds. Place in oven-proof dish (one that contains the sides is ideal) and bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. Can be microwaved for 2 minutes on medium setting. Note: Experimentation with baking brie can be fun. You can use pepper spreads, chutneys, preserves, even lemon curd.
