Sherlock's Cake

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 cup margarine, room temperature
1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar
3 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
1/2 cup milk
1 1/2 cups finely shredded unpeeled zucchini (2 medium)
1 cup chopped walnuts
Powdered sugar

Preheat oven to 350. Grease and lightly flour a 13-by-9-by-2-inch pan.

Stir together flours, cocoa, baking powder and baking soda.

In a large mixer bowl, beat margarine on medium speed for 30 seconds. Add sugar and beat until fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well on medium speed. Beat in vanilla. Add dry ingredients and milk alternately to beaten mixture, beating on low speed after each addition.

Stir in zucchini and nuts. Spread batter evenly into prepared pan.

Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, until a wooden toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Sift powdered sugar over cake. Serves 24.
