Completed in 1931 and over 3,000 acres in size, North Park is the largest public park in Allegheny County.
The park features the largest man-made body of water in the county, over 75 acres, bordered by four miles of woodlands. Its swimming pool was considered in the 1930s to be the largest in the world; it holds 2 million gallons of water.
North Park also offers a golf course, ice skating rink, picnic groves, tennis courts and miles of trails. Facilities for events include a former barn and a former firehouse.
