The Bulgarian-Macedonian National Educational & Cultural Center is a nonprofit organization founded in 1995. Its mission is to preserve, perpetuate and present the rich cultural heritage of the Bulgarian and Macedonian people. It intends to accomplish this through exhibits and displays, educational programs for children and adults, and the presentation of cultural programs including performances with the Bulgarian Folk Dance Ensemble "Otets Paissiy" and the Bitov Bulgarian Folk Orchestra.
The BMNECC has received about one thousand folk artifacts, more than one hundred oil paintings and graphics, several thousand recordings - both audio and video - over one hundred films, about five hundred costume and folk art slides, more than one thousand books and journals, and thirty-six original native costumes.
While the BMNECC plans to document the lives of the many Bulgarian and Macedonian families who have played a profound influence in the establishment of the Bulgaro-Macedonian Beneficial Association - America's oldest fraternal and social organization still functioning - it also proposes to represent the history and culture on a national basis, and will seek further support in an international arena.
The facility includes a social hall that often hosts events.
