Allegheny Traditional Academy is a magnet school for elementary and middle school students.
Allegheny emphasizes high academic standards to promote student achievement, character development, and community pride in a highly structured and disciplined school environment. Programs include student banking, computer lab, Dashboard, Read 180, Waterford Early Reading Program, Reading First, swimming instruction, piano instruction, instrumental music, creative and performing arts and experiences with the Pittsburgh Symphony, Pittsburgh Public Theatre, Saltworks, and Gateway To The Arts.
It sometimes holds events open to the general public, especially in the spring as part of the Pittsburgh International Children's Festival.
