The John M. & Gertrude E. Petersen Events Center provides an unprecedented diversity of recreational opportunities for University Of Pittsburgh students. From space to play sports to space for concerts and commencement, to the home of Pitt Panthers Division I basketball, the Petersen Events Center has it all.

A key component is the 40,000-square-foot Baierl Student Recreation Center, which features four racquetball courts, two squash courts, Cybex weight machines, large free weight area, aerobics practice room, martial arts practice room, health assessment area, and a state-of-the-art aerobic area complete with treadmills, exercise bikes, and elliptical and Stairmaster machines, as well as four flat-screen plasma TVs.
