The Rock Catholic Parish Center is a large, multipurpose building serving the needs of Roman Catholic worshipers, especially those attending the adjacent Slippery Rock University.
Founded in 1889, Slippery Rock University is a public, master's-level, university that offers some doctoral programs in cooperation with Indiana University Of Pennsylvania. The center is part of St. Peter Parish, which has served the area since 1908 and named after Simon Peter who was an early Christian leader and one of the twelve apostles of Jesus.
The center features a chapel, offices meeting rooms and even a courtyard. The main event space is Newman Hall, a large banquet hall named in honor of John Henry Newman (1801-1890). These facilities may be rented by offered by organizations that are not in opposition to the Catholic faith or its principles.
The center is open daily during the academic year, 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
The parish's offices are open Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
