Founded in 2004, City Of Asylum Pittsburgh provides sanctuary to endangered literary writers in exile and facilitate the creative practice of writers in a community setting and cross-cultural exchange. They are the only grassroots organization in a
worldwide network of government-funded organizations.
As part of their mission, City Of Asylum Pittsburgh is transforming a cluster of dilapidated buildings. Sections of them are residences, offices and event spaces. In addition, outdoor events are sometimes held in front of these buildings on Sampsonia Way.
