The area the district serves the communities around Chartiers Creek, a tributary of the Ohio River named after trapper Pierre Chartier who established a trading post at the mouth of the creek in 1743.
The intermediate school is a contemporary red brick building where 750 bright students in Grades 3 to 5 begin to develop their personal responsibility, self-reliance and creativity. Facilities include a modern cafeteria, a playground, state-of-the-art auditorium, fully equipped computer lab and library.
The core curriculum is comprised of language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, health education, physical education, Spanish, visual arts and music.
