Awesome Books Downtown

Description

Awesome Books is a locally owned chain of cozy, funky bookstores offering thousands of new and used books in nearly every subject.

The first Awesome Books store began in 2010 in the city's Garfield neighborhood when a retailer offered artist Laura Jean McLaughlin and poet Bob Ziller 10,000 "awesome" second-hand books.

The downtown store is located inside a beautiful, historic building in the exciting Pittsburgh Cultural District. The 4-story commercial building dates to the early 20th century and has an interesting paint job resulting in a green facade with red highlights.

Awesome's comfortable, welcoming environment often hosts literary and artistic events promoting local talent.

Hours of operation

Sunday, Noon to 5:00 p.m.
Monday through Thursday, Noon to 9:00 p.m.
Friday & Saturday, Noon to Midnight.
