Opened in 1998, Urban Pathways Charter School seeks to help children from kindergarden to 12th grade find a pathway to a successful adult life in the city and beyond.

A charter school is a public school that operates by different rules, regulations and statutes that apply to other public schools in exchange for some type of accountability for producing certain results, which are set forth in each school's charter.

Urban Pathways has smaller class sizes, more individual attention to students and a disciplined environment. Their students wear uniforms to keep the emphasis on learning and not on fashion.

The primary campus is located on five floors of an office building constructed in 1880 that still proudly features its original, handsome facade.

Hours of operation

The school holds classes Monday through Friday, 8:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.

A parking garage is located nearby on Ninth Street. For information, call (412) 560-7250.
