Market Street Academy & Performing Arts Centre

Description

Opened in 2010, the Market Street Academy & Performing Arts Centre is a developing art school and stage which ovides educational, economic and cultural opportunities for people living in and near Brownsville.

Brownsville is a town of 3,000 people in rural Fayette County founded in 1785 and was an industrial center for much of its history. It is currently engaging in a renassaince.

The Market Street Academy is located inside the former hall of a fraternal organization called the Oddfellows. It has a large, flexible, street level performance space that works equally well for theatre, concerts and exhibits by new and established artists.

The center also houses a bookshop focusing on arts-related publications, including books about theatre, visual arts, writing, crafts and music.

Weekdays, 1:00 p.m. through 8:00 p.m. and weekends for special events. Call for more information.
