Located inside a municipal park, the Hempfield Athletic Complex is a large, contemporary building offering a variety of health and fitness services to the residents of Hempfield.
Hempfield is a town of 43,000 people in Westmoreland County that was first settled in 1773. Hempfield is home to the popular Westmoreland Mall, the third largest shopping mall complex in the Pittsburgh area.
The center features a walking track and three multi-purpose athletic playing fields. Indoor activities include basketball, soccer, cheerleading, wiffleball, tennis, conditioning programs and more. The facility includes a concession stand for customers convenience, serving Coke products and healthy snacks. The lobby area has a television so that players can relax with a snack and watch TV between games, or where parents can wait for their kids to finish playing.
The park features walking tracks, tennis and volleyball courts, baseball and soccer fields, a playground and five pavilions for various events.
The complex is open Sunday Noon to 7:00 p.m.; Monday thorugh Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.; and Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
The park is open daily, dawn to dusk.
