Begun as by a women's literary club in 1894, the Butler Area Public Library serves thousands of residents in rural Butler County by connecting them with the beauty of literature.
The library is housed in a handsome building made possible by a grant from industrialist and opened in 1921. Renovated twice since then, the handsome brick building has many large windows creating an open and welcoming atmosphere.
The facilities include a computer training lab, meeting rooms and a variety of departments including the Kids Cove.
Among the most prominent departments in the Weir Room, an extensive geneology resource made possible by a local family's generous grant.
