Owned and operated by the Penn-Trafford Area Recreation Commission (PTARC), the Proskin is a former public school being renovated into a community center.
PTARC's mission is to provide residents of the Penn-Trafford School District with the opportunity for life-long learning, fitness and fun through wholesome, affordable recreation activities and safe, appealing facilities. PTARC serves the residents of the communities within the Penn-Trafford School District, including those living within the borders of Manor, Penn and Trafford Boroughs and Penn Township. All residents of Manor Borough are included.
The entire second floor of this handsome brick structure is an open space that can accommodate from 100 to 150 people depending on the event.
Thanks to a gift made by family, the building is named in honor of Shelly Proskin (1974-2004), an area resident who died after a decade-long cancer.
