Founded in 1980 by Reverend Dr. Michael D. Guthrie and his wife Cathy, Cornerstone Church is a vibrant and diverse group of people who believe and celebrate the wonder of God's love and the joy of being in a relationship with Him and fellowship with others.
The church's unique home is the former mansion of amusement park pioneer George Harton, who owned the popular (but now demolished) West View Park. The beautiful 10,000-square-foot structure was built in 1958 was created from the finest materials available. These included hand tooled Indiana Limestone cut and laid on site. The finished 15-room home included 9 bathrooms, 2 kitchens, 4 log burning fireplaces, a dumb waiter and a 130,000 gallon in-ground pool. The mansion was purchased by the church in 1983.
Cornerstone is part of a denomination called the Free Methodist Church. Founded in 1860, Free Methodists' beliefs are the standard beliefs of evangelical, Arminian Protestantism with distinctive emphasis on the scriptural teaching of entire sanctification as held by Anglican cleric John Wesley (1703-1791).
The office is open Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The church has its own parking lot.
