Description

Bradford Woods Community Church began in 1912 as a series of religious classes held on the lawns of local homes. Today, the church is one of the central community points for the residents of Bradford Woods.

Incorporated in 1915, Bradford Woods is a small town of about 1,000 people and originally settled as a summer getaway.

In 1915 the religious classes moved into the newly-built school house on Wexford Run Road. In 1920, a Board Of Governors recommended that a new church be established, and so it was --- using the school.

By the early fifties, enthusiasm and interest in the church increased and the people decided to erect an actual church building. A five year program resulted with the church's completion in 1956. The education wing was subsequently added in 1962.

The church has belonged to the Council Of Community Churches or one of its antecedents since at least 1932. Church ministers have included Congregationalists, Methodists and Presbyterians. Since the current building was erected, ministers and worship have reflected Presbyterian roots.

Regarless of a person's actual denominiation, the church's goal is to reflect the rich spiritual heritage of all members of the town's Christian community.
