Located in rural Westmoreland County, these fair grounds are the home of the Pittsburgh Renaissance Festival. Like other Renaissance fairs across the country, it is an outdoor gathering which emulates part of the Renaissance period for the amusement of its guests.
The Renaissance was a European cultural movement that spanned roughly the 14th to the 17th century. It encompassed a resurgence of learning based on classical sources, the development of linear perspective in painting and gradual but widespread educational reform.
The grounds include historically themed buildings for artisans along with a theater, tents, garden, children's area and game booths.
